EMET Major Trauma Coober Pedy

Medical officers, General Practitioners, Nurses and Paramedics working in Emergency Care settings are invited to attend this interactive full day workshop delivered through large group sessions, skills station training and simulation training.

This workshop will focus on major trauma patient scenarios and examine acute management in regional and rural settings.

This workshop is pending RACGP/ACRRM accreditation and Rural Procedural Grants Program eligibility. Participants will receive a statement of attendance for 6.5 hours of CPD.

Learning outcomes:

1. Undertake a systematic primary assessment to detect and manage life threats in cases of major trauma

2. Assess and manage hypotension & haemorrhage in trauma

4. Assess and manage chest injuries

5. Perform procedures required to manage critical situations including: chest drains, pelvic binder application and vascular access

SAPMEA has received funding from the Australian Government Department of Health and ACEM support from the peak body for emergency medicine in Australia, the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine to run an EMET Program.
